Beau temps au debut de la journee avec le soleil et ciel bleu apres une nuit de pluie. Nous allions faire un circuit de la region - a Reefton, Spring Junction et retour a Murchison.
Our first stop was to be exciting ........ a visit to the longest Swing Bridge in New Zealand:
La premiere etape etait excitante..... une visite au pont suspendu le plus longue en NZ
Crossing this gave us the chance to visit an old mining area with a walk. http://www.bullerbridge.co.nz/
On a traverse le pont (avec prudence) et a l'autre cote, visite un petit coin ancien des mineurs qui cherchaient l'or.
Here we were able to see the results of an earthquake in 1929 and the Buller River over which we crossed
Ici on a vu les resultats d'un tremblement de terre en 1929 et la riviere Buller que nous avions traversee.
Of note was a miners cottage fully restored which gave us an insight into what life must have been like a hundred years ago
On a vu aussi une ancienne maison restoree pour nous montrer comment les mineurs ont vecu il y a 100 ans.
Then it was time to recross the river. The choice was to retrace our steps across the swingbridge or the quick option.....'' the comet line''. The pictures and videos below explain clearly what was involved!!
Puis c'etait le moment pour re-traverser la riviere. Soit on prenait le pont a nouveau, ou l'option plus vite.... "le Comet Line". Regardez au dessous pour voir comment tout s'est passe!!
First it was Michel and France to make the crossing
D'abord, Michel et France!
Then it was the turn of Sue and Dick
Puis, nous!
After this excitement it was off to Reefton for picnic lunch and a return to Murchison through the lovely valleys in the area
Apres ca, on a continue a Reefton pour un piquenique dans le campervan et la retour a Murchison.
The day finished in the local pub watching Canada beat Tonga followed by the normal BBQ
La journee se terminait dans un pub locale pour regarder le Canada bat le Tonga, suivi par un BBQ.
Toujours dans le campervan parce que il pleut toujours!!!
