Rotorua

A short journey from Lake Taupo took us towards Rotorua. First stop, along with hundreds of other people mainly rugby supporters, was the thermal park of Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland http://www.waiotapu.co.nz/

Depuis Lake Taupo, nous sommes visite le parc thermale de Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland, 20 minutes avant Rotorua, avec beaucoup d'autres touristes!

Here via a series of  paths one is able to see a fantastic mix of thermal pools:

First though, close to the main area, was a visit to the Geyser:

D'abord, on a visite un Geyser tres connu:

with a constant jet of boiling water often 5 metres high

avec une jet constante de l'eau bouillante, souvent jusqu'a 5 metres de hauteur.


The main area contained a series of different thermal areas with differing sizes and colours. A selection is included below:

Le parc a compris une serie de quartiers differents en couleurs et tailles.  Voici une selection:

Overall it was a place definitely worth visiting, where everywhere there were thermal emissions; in the fields, woods and alongside the road.

C'etait une visite tres interessante dans une region ou il y avait plein d'emissions thermales, dans les champs, les bois and au bord de la route.

On then to Rotorua. One knows when you've arrived in the town because of the smell of sulphur! Lunch at an Irish pub in the centre of town and a few pints of beer took away the smell!!

Puis a Rotorua.  Il y avait un odeur tres fort de soufre partout - pas de tout agreable!  Dejeuner dans un pub irlandais et quelques pints de biere a enleve l'odeur!

Here we were staying at Cosy Cottage International Holiday Park; certainly international with a mix of nationalities particularly Argentinian and French, all of course rugby supporters

Ici nous sommes restes a Cosy Cottage International Holiday Park - le camping.  C'etait vraiment international avec beaucoup d'Argentiniens et Francais, toujours la pour le Coupe du Monde.

Here we discovered a number of non camping residents...some unusual birds throughout the camping ground:

Ici on a decouvert quelques residents non campeur... quelques oiseaux bizarre dans le camping.

It wasn't the most quiet of stays here given that we were positioned next to the BBQ area and first the French took advantage of it followed by a very noisy group of Argentinians. The result ....not the best nights sleep!

Ce n'etait pas une nuit tranquille, parce que nous etions places a cote du BBQ et d'abord les francais y ont dine, suivi par les Argentiniens, qui ont fete une victoire jusqu'a 3 heures du matin.
