On a fait une randonnee a pied autour du lac Taupo, le lac le plus grande en NZ, en passant par un sentier plein de fougeres, l'embleme nationale de NZ. Ils s'appellent les Ponga, et ils peuvent arriver a 5m de hauteur.
From the path were some superb views over the lake with the sunshine on the water:
Il ya avait de belles vues depuis le pointe au bout
Even thogh it was sunny there was a cold wind and waves on the lake given its size
The afternoon took us on a walk to the Huka Falls; a two hour round trip, along the Waikato river:
Pendant l'apres midi on a fait une balade de 2 heures par la riviere Waikato, qui commence a Lac Taupo et finit sud d'Auckland, vers les Chutes Huka.
The Falls were impressive with 20,000litres of water passing over the Falls every second; enough water to fill 5 olympic size swimming pools in a minute!!
Les Chutes etaient tres impressionants avec 20,000 litres de l'eau passant sur les chutes chaque second, assez de remplir 5 piscines olympiques dans une minute!
At the falls one had the chance to take a jet boat ride almost under the Falls
It was then a return trip along the Waikato back to Taupo for a BBQ and an evening in the pub for the rugby; Italy v Russia. For our English readers this sign in the pub was amusing:
Puis nous sommes rentres par le sentier a Taupo pour un BBQ et une soiree dans un pub pour regarder la Russie contre Italie. Pour nos lecteurs anglais, on a trouve de panneau tres amusant:
